The foundation Stichting Filippijnse Gemeenschap Rotterdam was established on 30 October 2019 to support undertake cultural and service activities and projects for the Filipino community in Rotterdam. The foundation upon its creation took it as a core function to help the Filipino Catholic Community of Rotterdam (FCCR), specifically in its service mission. As a non-profit organization, it is aligned with the FCCR’s vision and mission to serve the Rotterdam community in general and the Filipino-Dutch community in particular.

The foundation is composed of Grace Cabactulan (chair), Maria Levy Martin (Secretary) and Lea Hogervorst-Mapa (treasurer). They are volunteers of the stichting who are committed to serve without any renumeration in return. The members of the foundation are also active volunteers of FCCR.

The community, in return, supports the foundation with the volunteers needed to do projects and activities. As such, all projects and activities done by the foundation or the community are with the support of one another.

The foundation draws its funds from the following:

  • Support from community (FCCR) members by means of pledges and donations;
  • Support from other foundations and institution to undertake projects, e.g. SKIN Rotterdam, Space for Grace, SOFAK, etc.
  • Regular fund-raising activities, e.g. dance party, BINGO, raffle, etc.

The foundation in turn, provides the following:

  • Support the FCCR in maintaining their regular monthly masses, that also serves as social gathering for Filipinos.
  • Provide assistance to community members in Rotterdam who are in need, e.g. voedselpakket drive, meals every month (after the mass), calamity assistance in the Philippines specially the areas of the community members
  • Support visiting artists from the Philippines touring the Netherlands, e.g. Loboc Childrens Choir, Male Ensemble Philippines (MEn), Manila Chambers Singers, Bry Cimafranca (Filipino Viocalist), etc.
  • Support the Philippine Embassy in the Netherlands in reaching out to Filipinos living in the Netherlands for information dissemination or socio-cultural gatherings.
  • Participate in activities within Rotterdam, e.g. Serve the City Rotterdam, Platform L&R, etc.
